Supply Chain Management (SCM) oversees the flow of goods, data, and finances related to a product or service, from the procurement of raw materials to the delivery of the final product. Cognitive’s digital SCM systems integrate material handling and software for all parties involved in product creation, order fulfillment, and information tracking, including suppliers, manufacturers, wholesalers, transportation and logistics providers, and retailers.

Key SCM Activities

  • Demand or Order Management: This function manages the collection, validation, and submission of information required to fulfill customer orders, based on pending orders and demand forecasts.
  • Material Management: A critical component, Material Requirement Planning (MRP), determines the complete manufacturing Bill of Materials, finalizes material requirements by comparing with available free stock, safety stock levels, and reorder levels. It involves procurement planning, supply source identification, PO generation, supply tracking, material inspection, and bill processing. Integration with a supplier portal facilitates online document exchange.
  • Stores & Inventory Management: This module handles the complete receipt and issuance of materials against POs, warehouse management for raw materials and finished products, and supports multi-branch, multi-store stock maintenance.
  • Quality Management: Integrates with or includes a built-in QMS system to manage quality aspects. Incoming material receipts can be held in ‘Restricted Stock’ until QC approval, after which they move to ‘Unrestricted Stock’ for production or logistics, or returned to the supplier if QC fails.
  • Distribution: Manages the final delivery of goods/products to customers, including packing, pre-delivery inspection (PDI), and transport management functionalities.

In essence, Cognitive’s SCM solutions supervise all business processes and workflows within the supply chain, ensuring seamless and efficient operations from start to finish.
